One 4 Six Coffee Bar August 12 – Present
While working at One 4 Six, I learned how to deal with customers face-to-face, and learned how to think on my toes, while under pressure. This job has taught me much about teamwork, responsibility and time management in the workplace. Similarly, I need to use my mathematical skills to count and balance the takings at the end of each day.


Jumeirah Carlton Tower June 12 – July 12
Multiple Roles
I carried out a two-week work placement where I experienced what it was like to work in a 5 star hotel. Whilst I was there I was in a different department each day. These included: Housekeeping, Room Service, Banqueting, Switch Board, Reservations and Guest Service. I also attended a Human Resources Orientation, and finally the Peak Health Club.
Hartwell House and Spa July 11
Assistant Chef
Here I completed a two-week work placement through school, where I shadowed the head chef and also worked around the different stations within a busy kitchen. I learned how to work quickly and accurately under pressure and I really enjoyed the fast-paced atmosphere. For this I received a Gold Award.
In addition to the standard timetable I also took part in training on Saturdays for the Rotary Chef competition for which I came 2nd in the semi-final. This training involved presentation skills on cakes and pastries in particular.

Miscellaneous Information

I achieved a Pass my first aid qualification, and I have passed my Food Hygiene Exam. Additionally, I volunteer with young children and adults with disabilities, which I have done for two years. All demonstrates that I am a team player, trustworthy and can plan activities. Similarly, every Christmas I take the elderly shopping in my local town centre.
