About Me

As a person, I am easy-going, and cool-headed. I am certainly very persistent – give me a task and I will work my way through until it is complete to the best of my ability. I enjoy my comforts, but I can also survive well outside my comfort zone – I have done many residential visits with the Wansbeck Young People’s Forum, whereby leaving my family, and doing work rewarding and certainly unexpected. In the next year, I hope to be at university, doing a degree in Drama, or Performing Arts, because that has always been my greatest strength – not only did I organise the aforementioned “Live Annexe Lounge”, I starred in it. Aside from this, I have learned (with lessons), how to play the clarinet, and basic guitar, and have also taught myself how to play piano – my favourite pastime. I enjoy working with people, I may seem independent, but I can be a group-orientated as self-orientated, and I suppose I am my own person, but that is part of my character.

Employment History & Experience

As an actor, my main experience has been in amateur school productions, and in pantomime. The productions at school have been in stage shows of "The Wizard of Oz", in which I played a small role, and in "Annie: The Musical", playing the bad boy character "Rooster Hannigan".

Other than the typical school productions I have experience in examined work, such as playing a part in an ALevel production standard of "Be My Baby" (changing the gender-based role of the Matron, into a Priest), in which our class designed the entire production - lights, acting, costumes, staging.
As well as this, I did a small monologue from "A Midsummer Night's Dream", doing my own portrayal of the character Puck, this time, designing the entire piece from the text I used, with my own interpretation.

Further than this, I have also had theatre acting work with The Royal Shakespeare Company, back in 2005, doing a full-cast version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" within school. As such, I played the character of "Bottom" and so had the job of being the most pompous, idiotic character on the set.

Beyond all of this, I have taken part in 5 pantomimes, and am about to start rehearsals for the production of my 6th, in November. In general, I have played background parts, but I have been set some very random roles: Postman Pat, for example, and also a Scottishman, as a physical version of the "Englishman, Irishman and Scottishman" joke.

Experience & Qualifications

General Experience

Within my school years, I have done a great deal of volunteer work for causes, and as such, have experience working with people, and even organising events. For example, I helped with the organisation of a coffee morning for the Teenage Cancer Trust with my friends, raising £85. However, the biggest organisation event I have done was completely on my own. I organised an acoustic night, headed as the “Live Annexe Lounge”, at the school annexe to raise money for the Japanese Red Cross, for the earlier events of Japan, and the Wansbeck Young People’s Forum, of which I am an active member. The organisation included acts, publicity, PA, and refreshment. I am currently working with my drama teacher to organise another event like this for next term. Other achievements I have include shadowing on Show Racism the Red Card events, and a youth conference on Climate Change. I have also worked with the Fairtrade Charity selling products (with permission) in the school at break- and lunch-times. All in all, I have had a very busy period of time within my years of 6th Form, and yet it has all been worth it for the personal satisfaction. I have also written 2 articles for the Ashington Learning Partnership newsletter in the past, respective of the work I have done – one about racism, and the other about the “Live Annexe Lounge”.

Other Information

Relevant Skills

As a person, I am highly flexible - I have been known to even perform a drag act, and I love being taken out of my own comfort zone, otherwise I would never grow. I am vocal, and I am persistent. I do enjoy consistence, but I can work without it.

I have been known to be loud, and I am certainly easy to work with, and I also like to leave my own personal stamp on the world, and to be remembered. I am bold, and as a typical Geordie, I am straight talking. I am talkative, and I am also a learner. I love speaking with accents, which I think is a good skill to have for an acting career, as it also helps to be able to understand accents.

I am my own person - what you see is what you get. I am however, very adaptable, and as such, can obliterate my own personality to create the one on page.

I suppose in a way I am smart, and I am also quite cheeky, and vivacious. I am also down to earth, which I think is vital to performers - basically, I don't let good things go to my head.

Interests & Hobbies

Obviously my main hobby is in acting, but I also love music - listening and performing. I own my own keyboard and guitar. I love entertaining, and being entertained, by which I mean I love to be able to hold people's thoughts, and I also love to be held by things, and I enjoy the feeling of enigma.

Aside from performance, I am a fan of literature, and I also enjoy photography. To be able to catch a moment in time as a picture, to me, is magic. I love seeing fantastic images as this, and I also enjoy art.

Miscellaneous Information

At 18 years old, I have had a number of achievements, which has taken much perseverance and certainly pushed my people skills to the limit – organisation of events can be stressful, and yet I get a feeling of pride, because I know I am responsible for it, and it always felt worth it. This year has been a very up and down year for me academically, and as such I have been unsuccessful in my university application, but I will be applying again in the next year, because I have managed to sort myself out, and doing what I want to do. I have not had an easy time, and yet I have managed to sort myself out, in order to work my hardest for my A Level examinations.
