Description:
This is a rare and special opportunity to learn about the work of The Laughter Specialists Charitable Trust and meet and work with experienced Laughter Specialists with a view to possible future paid work opportunities in a wonderfully rewarding and fun occupation.

Laughter Specialists are entertainers who visit children in hospital and those with special needs in schools using their performance skills to bring smiles, laughter and joy to relieve the stress of being in hospital and improve children’s well-being as well as help to improve confidence and inter action with children in special schools.

They use a wide range of skills including; funny characters, improvisation, music and singing, puppets, clowning, magic, balloon modelling, jokes, stories and lots of inter-action.

More importantly they need to be very aware of the needs of the children and able to empathise and relate to a wide range of ages and abilities.

Requirements:
This is a job that would suit someone who can work flexible hours or is already working as an entertainer.
Candidates would have a love of working with children and a desire to help sick children and help those with special needs experience fun and laughter.
Preferably they would have:
1) Some experience in the performing arts
2) Entertainment skills
3) Experience of working with children

Successful applicants will be required to apply for a DBS certificate and references will be required.

Details:
Successful applicants would accompany Laughter Specialists during their visits to Hospitals and Special schools observing and learning about the work. Training sessions would lead on to opportunities to practice their skills as trainee Laughter Specialists. Visits take place on weekday mornings and usually last 2 to 3 hours. We have a limited number of places available. Applicants must be over 18.
