'7 days with an addict' is a factual series in which, we are submerged into the world of those who live with 'modern' addictions. In each episode we spend a week following the lives of 4 people who suffer with the same addiction, giving the audience a unique insight into the impact of an addiction on both its victim and their family.

We all know what its like to be a bit hooked on something, Whether it's a cheeky drink after work, a fag after dinner or maybe you just have an unhealthy affection for Coronation Street. In Britain the statistics speak for themselves, 20% of us are smokers, the number of drug takers are in the millions, 25% of us are obese and a quarter of the population drink more than the recommended amount.

At a time when we are displaying a distinct lack of willpower, a whole new genre of addictions has come along for us to get our teeth into, a bunch of 21st century addictions which have emerged through our love of online gaming, gambling, sex, appearance, shopping and communication.

Technologies such as the Internet continually tempt us with new freedoms, leisure pursuits and opportunities that are placing even greater demands on our self-control. Think Facebook, world of war craft and the iphone, while undoubtedly good things to most of us they are stretching our self-control to the limit.
