Details:
Rare Day are working on a not for broadcast Channel 4 pilot which explores the psychology of truth telling and how beneficial it can be in all areas of our lives. We have devised a unique television experiment to test the psychological, social and physiological effects of truth telling and find out if honesty can really change our lives for the better. Although it often feels as if lying is unavoidable, research tells us that those who tell the truth experience less stress and have better health.
We will challenge one person to tell the truth for a whole day. While it may seem an easy feat, most of us tell up to 200 lies a day without even realizing it. Our brave volunteer will have no choice but to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth as we’ve devised a unique system to keep them honest. No telling the boss your train was late, no telling your friend she looks great in that dress, no white lies to get you out of sticky situations.
We’re not looking for pathological liars, just someone for whom a day telling nothing but the truth would be very much out of the ordinary. The ideal candidate would be someone who is genuinely worried that lying could be having a negative impact on their lives, and wants to take part in this unique social experiment to see how honesty could benefit them. We’re really interested to know more about the situations you find yourself lying in – do you tell more fibs at work or at home? Why do you tell lies, and who are you most likely to lie to? We’d love to hear how you think telling the truth might change your life for the better, but also what difficulties it could present for you.
