We are looking for one male dancer (contemporary style) and one female dancer (ballet) to star in a short film/dance piece. Dancer must be able to act on a basic level. The film will be shot live at London College of Communication, situated in Elephant and Castle. We will be filming with multiple cameras in our Professional TV studio, and the piece will be 5 minutes in length.
The production is a surreal account of a transsexual's transformation. The male-to-female metamorphosis is expressed via personification of the transsexual's emotions. With each representation of the transsexual's emotion, we see the transsexual become more physically refined; and her "emotions" become more positive. The narrative's progression has a direct correlation to the transsexual's liberation and goal of affirming her true gender.
We will be working with a choreographer, costume designers, special effect technicians and make up artists, so we will need you for a number of fittings and rehearsals throughout May and June. The film will be shot in one day, with a full dress rehearsal-taking place the day before (16th and 17th of June). You also have to be free on 24th of June.
The ideal dancer would be comfortable with using prosthetics and face casts (alginate/plaster bandages); as make-up and costume are a large part of the overall appearance of the characters.
