Our 20-minute short film illustrates a quirky family dynamics. The daughter, Lea, in seek for a 'paradise' to escape the egoistic city environment that she is in, enters a video competition to win a free trip to a tropical island - South Kambonesia - a representation of her ideal world. Her mother - Celine - is a free spirited painter and her father - Ronald - is a playful sound artist, who tend to be self-absorbed in their own art productions. Lea struggles in making the video due to her artistic inexperiences, which leads to her parents joining the production, a little too eagerly. Through the process of their creative production, the family begins to understand each of their differences and grows to value them. They recreate the South Kambonesian settings in their house and playact in it, which leads them to having a mock experience of being in a 'paradise'.
We intend to enter this film into festivals.
Lea (daughter)
Teenager. Caucasian, speaks English. Determined, strong character with huge interest in geography, history and anthropology. She is sick of the egoistic, hectic society she is living in, and it is her dreams to escape to her 'dreamland' - South Kambonesia. She keeps her thoughts to herself and doesn't like to communicate with her parents. She tends to indulge herself in foreign exotic cultures.
