Blossoms is a short experimental film telling the real story of two childhood friends, Lou and Charlotte, and the impact on their friendship when Charlotte moves away from London to the seaside town of Deal. Using voiceover from the now-adult Charlotte recalling their friendship and extracts from real letters between the two girls, the film will weave non-fiction elements with re-enactments to create the effect of a memory.

There will be no script as such, but you will read extracts of the letters and work on improvised scenes without dialogue which will depict memories of the girls\' friendship.

I’m looking for two teenaged girls, playing 13-14 years old, white working-class with South London accents. It will be shot in South London - location TBC. It will be a one-day shoot either weekend of 31 March or 7 April. Unpaid but expenses will be covered.


Lou:

Lou is the quieter of the two girls and she\'s in awe of Charlotte\'s confidence and rebellious nature. She\'s very sweet and gentle but also straight-talking.

She\'s sensitive and really affected by Charlotte\'s move away from London. She misses her a lot and feels her absence very profoundly.

She lives on a council estate and has a south London accent. All of the letters are from Lou to Charlotte and she writes to her a least once a week.


Charlotte:

Charlotte is the leader of the two girls. She is confident and rebellious, and sometimes gets the two girls in trouble. She\'s very fun-loving and laughs a lot. She\'s the more expressive and outspoken of the two. She is very attached to Lou but doesn\'t show it quite so easily.

This is a non-speaking part but just as crucial for the re-enactment scenes.
