A short film about a young man on his wedding day. Matt, is waiting for his parents to arrive, when they do not show he can't understand why? He is comforted by his friend Jack who helps him to realise that his parents need to accept the person he is marrying.
The film will be focusing on the conversation between Matt and Jack, The idea is that they are both gay and getting married to each other. The audience are unaware of this and it isn't until the end that this is revealed. For the narrative to work, both characters need to be seen as 'straight.'
MATT
MATT is a shy person who worries about peoples perceptions of him. He is caring and family orientated. It took him along to time to finally 'come out' to his parents; who took the news bad, especially his dad. His mum has accepted that his gay but the news has put a strain on MATTS relationship with his family. He feels rejected by his family.When he decided to get married, he believed his parents would accept his feelings and come but he still had doubts about his dad.
JACK
JACK is a boisterous, free living person with a sensitive side. He tries to see the humorous side in every situation in life and cares little about what people think of him. Unlike MATT he came out to his parents early which they accepted.He has always known of MATTs parents perception of his relationship with their son, but chose to ignore it. He is sympathetic of MATTs issue and wants to help, but without there being a change in his personality.
