Butterfly is a short film about one 16 year-old girl's struggle against the epilepsy that has returned to haunt her life. When the condition puts her swimming career on hold and her quality of life under threat, she must decide just where her priorities lie before it’s too late.

In connection with the film, we are looking for cast members to portray the following roles:

JANE (16 years) – A stubborn dreamer whose passion for swimming defines her life, Jane struggles with the prospect of her looming future and the reality that her ambitions might not be enough in the face of her medical condition. As the lead role in Butterfly, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced performer to play a strong character in a fascinating world and with a truly unique dilemma.

~ This role is ideal for anyone with a playing age including 16, but whose actual age ranges anywhere from 16 - 20+. The ability to swim confidently and safely is crucial.

HANNAH (16 years) – Equally as uncertain about the future as Jane, her best friend and fellow swimmer Hannah is far less concerned about where her ‘live in the moment’ attitude will take her. While socially confident and beyond her age, Hannah’s lack of responsibility is inevitably a trait that may be more tempting for Jane to mimic than she realises.

~ This role is ideal for anyone with a playing age including 16, but whose actual age ranges anywhere from 16 - 20+. The ability to swim confidently and safely is crucial.

SARA (16 years) – Eager to impress her friends at school, Sara’s cool image is one she’s desperate to maintain. As the life of the party among other people both her age and older, she’s prone to placing her social status above the needs of friends such as Jane.

~ This role is ideal for anyone with a playing age including 16, but whose actual age ranges anywhere from 16 - 20+.
