Film Summary: 10 minute short aimed at helping offenders to manage their money upon release from prison. We're using comic drama to flag up the pitfalls of getting it wrong, as well as the benefits of getting it right.

Principles:

THE STRANGER, a cocky, mysterious character who narrates the story of an ex-offender just released from prison, and FINN, the offender, who starts out full of hope for the future, but ends up back in trouble after just a few days on the outside. Visible only to the viewer, the Stranger gloats as he plants temptations in Finn's way, making his journey toward a fresh start rather more difficult than he'd first thought.

Character Profiles:

THE STRANGER - Streetwise, cocky and charming, the Stranger is a natural salesman who can talk anyone into anything. If you found him in a pub, he'd be right in the centre of the bar - telling stories and making everyone laugh yet miraculously never actually himself having to buy a drink. With a pitch black sense of humour, he'd have you thinking you thinking he was the rudest, funniest guy alive. Until you discovered he'd just nicked your wallet and had just got your girlfriend�€�s number while you went to the loo. Oops.

FINN - Having just been released from prison, Finn is full of hope for a new life going straight on the outside. Tough on the outside, Finn hates to show any sign of weakness or vulnerability. The result is an eagerness to impress that's all too often meant he's fallen in with the wrong crowd - in turn landing him in and out of the justice system all his life. Finn is determined to make a fresh start, yet with his family having long given up on him, he is left with little support on his first day back on the outside, and the temptation to fall back into his own ways proves stronger than he'd first thought.
