About the show
Off the Scales is a new gig theatre show by Kate McStraw and a team of carefully selected performance makers. Inspired by Kate's lived experience, it's part autobiography, part examination of weight loss culture.
Off the Scales follows the journey of a main character as she unpacks a lifetime of vicious conditioning and stigmatisation (aka bullsh!t) and starts to reconnect with herself. It's about the trials, tribulations, and tragically hilarious contradictions of trying to love yourself in a society that's dominated by constant commentary on our bodies.
