About the installation
The gallery will be transformed into a luxury store: a wayward version of Prada, Louis Vuitton or Gucci. All the items on sale will be dysfunctional: cheese graters without holes, stilettos with two heels, combs without teeth.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for male and female performers to act as sales assistants.
What will you do?
Naturally, you will assist customers in their purchases of these objects. However there will be small, subtle twists that give your interaction with customers a strange dimension. These will be based on repetition: small gestures, subtle blocking, and some verbal elements.
The way in which you deliver the ordinary patter of a sales assistant will be undercut by a slight, peculiar poetry.
On the night of the launch (5th December 6-9pm), we expect a large crowd to show up. The performance will be more explicit, incorporating more obvious movement-based elements.
Presentation
Since we are replicating the image of a luxury store, immaculate presentation is really essential. The dress is monochrome - black and white:
- Black suits / dresses - Black / white shirts - ironed - Men: black tie - Men: black leather shoes, Women: black heels. - Hair: must be tidy
Remuneration
Unfortunately we cannot offer any kind of payment, however we would be delighted to give you a reference for taking part in the performance.
Audition
We will be auditioning throughout the day on Monday 26th November, at Paradise Row Gallery.
The objects on sale in the Erratum store are the result of an absurd process: the artist commissioned factories all over the world to manufacture faulty versions of their ordinary
products. He requested the production line worker to intentionally insert an error. In this way, he is posing questions about globalization, manufacturing, and the role of the factory worker in mass-production. This project has already been featured in multiple publications across the globe, including New York Times, The Guardian, Creative Review, Icon Magazine.
