Synopsis:

Modern art dealer Whitelaw Savory has purchased a priceless statue of Venus, the Greek goddess of love. A hapless but likeable barber, Rodney Hatch, accidentally puts his fiancée’s engagement ring on the statue’s finger, bringing it to life. Venus awakens and then chases Rodney through New York trying to gain his affections. She is thwarted by his fiancée Gloria and her mother. Meanwhile, Savory is trying to recover his lost statue and gets his henchmen, Taxi Black and Stanley, to go after Rodney, who he thinks has stolen it. In order to get it back, they create an elaborate scheme to frame Rodney for the murder of Gloria (who is not dead at all) and Rodney and Venus are both sent to jail. Rodney, having realised that Gloria is no good, falls in love with Venus. When he is jailed for the murder of his fiancée, Venus comes with him and then breaks him out. They escape together and Rodney starts to make plans for their future in the suburbs, living just like everyone else in Ozone Heights. Venus realises this is not how she wants to live and disappears.
