Details:

In all appearances and reflections Yakkov is the ideal within the Hasidic Jewish community, but for everything that matters he is simply an image of this man.

CHAYAV is a short film exploring the actions of an increasingly lonely and ultimately struggling man, born into a community to which he doesnt belong.

The basic plot of CHAYAV follows one mans acts of desperation to connect outside his pre decided culture.

Yakkov struggles with his identity, blurring the line of acceptability and losing himself within a fascination to be free of moral obligation.

Meanwhile, long suffering and equally unsatisfied wife, Erzsebet, dulls the pain of her showroom marriage with simple acceptance. It takes all her power not to question her misery, or her husbands disdain for the family they have created together.

Consciousness, denial and fanaticism of character plague two peoples lives, in the sincere pursuit of happiness.

Happiness that may never come.

We are an independent collective within the early stages of production on what we consider to be universally challenging subject. We are currently casting for the major roles.

Both main roles are largely expression based, dialogue is minimal. Any actors interested in the roles of Yakkov and Erzsebet should be capable of expressing emotion based purely on their actions and expressions. We wish for you to understand the role and their background in order to portray a physical and emotional expression of them as a character.

Both roles have in-depth character profiles to which should be understood extensively.
