Casting Call for Internet 4 part Series: Astral Peaks

We are currently casting a 4part internet series called “Astral Peaks”. Astral Peaks is about a girl who, through a traumatic experience finds herself embarking a number of Astral journeys. During these journeys she discovers many hidden truths and finds answers to many questions.
This is a University project so we will not be able to pay participants but travel costs will be discussed and covered. We can assure you that this will be very good to add to your actor CVs and show reels as the quality of production will be at broadcast standard.

Audition dates will be Wednesday 29th February. Shooting will start in the next 3 weeks but the dates will be confirmed as son as possible.

Mike Cash

Cash works at the University as the head of the Neuroscience department. He is being funded by the MoD to test out a PTSD treatment which can help to get soldiers back onto the battlefield. He is actually using this money to look into remote viewing and the astral, using Anna as his patient. Mike wants to train the Iranian military to remote view to get industrial secrets so they can continue with their nuclear programme. Previously, he was treating his son, Andrew. The drugs didn’t work as expected and Andrew ended up in a coma for 5 years. He is addicted to amphetamines due to keep him alert. He is has almost psychopathic tendencies, killing a character early on and appears to have little emotion towards other people, power and money hungry.

Cash is a bit of a ladies man and very sex mad. He lives with his wife, Helen. However he is having an affair with his colleague, Jane and previously had a child with Denise. He dresses very smart, always in black trousers, shirt and tie. Never seen in jeans.

Dave is a typical 19 year old student ‘lad’. He is a joker, flirtatious, immature and mischievous. He has the tendency to be somewhat inappropriate at times. He loves himself however does genuinely care about his friends although doesn’t really show it. He’s single and ready to mingle. Dave dresses in a very stylish way and follows trends.

Has the gene which enables her to lower her vibrations enabling her to enter the astral.

Anna Knight is a white, caucasian female. She appears to be a typical 25 year old woman who works in a bar with her friend Nita with a conventional dress sense. However we soon find out that Anna has the ability/gene to lower her vibrations to enter the Astral. She lives at home with her mother Denise knight, their relationship is on off and they go through a lot together but Anna often gets frustrated with Denise and her hippy way of life; however they stick together as Anna does not know of any other family members until the end of the drama when she discovers her half-brother Andrew. At the beginning of the drama Anna is in a relationship with Max Taylor however this breaks down due to the stress they have been put under as a result of Anna believing she was raped. Their relationship is rebuilt as the drama continues when Max discovers everything that is going on with Mike Cash and the Astral. Anna lacks confidence due to everything she is going through and struggles with problems throughout the drama. At the beginning of the drama she is in a relationship with Max, this relationship breaks down and is rebuilt throughout the drama.




James Mackie

James Mackie is a 26 year old heterosexual, male, ex-army soldier who suffered from PTSD. He undertook drug tests run by Mike Cash to try and get rid of the PTSD; as a result of the drugs he became psychotic. He is an aggressive, abusive character that is persuaded by Mike Cash to attack Anna. At the beginning of the drama he is in a very unhealthy relationship with Anna’s friend Nita in which he is abusive towards her. James Mackie is killed in episode one, however we see him again in the Astral where he is seen to be on a different level to Anna and Andrew due to his aggressive and angry personality. At the beginning of the drama he is in an very unhealthy relationship with Nita where he is abusive and aggressive towards her. His appearance is quite scruffy e.g. ripped jeans, long unwashed hair.

Andrew Cash

Mixed heritage, British and Iranian (He looks very British with just an Iranian hint)

Andrew was a soldier who was blown up, (although not killed), in war in Iran. He is currently in a coma and we mainly see him in spirit form in the Astral. He was put in a coma after being treated for PTSD with drugs by his father, Mike Cash. He has some scars, which tell of what he has been through with the war. He is also the son of Denise Knight and half brother of Anna Knight. Andrew found a code when he was in Iran, which Cash wants to harness the powers of the Seven Rays of the Pleiades. He helps Anna to understand what is happening but wants to protect her by not telling her too much. As the end it is Andrew who explains everything which has happened. Although Andrew comes across quite spiritual and is existing in the astral plane with the knowledge he has, he once was a normal lad and we do see this coming through in the way he acts. Andrew is the opposite of his father, he is very caring and wants only what is right for everybody, even if that means sacrificing himself.

As a person she is inquisitive, and likes being in the ‘know’. She tends to put herself in sticky situations. Other characters may see her as ditsy and gullible but she knows when something is wrong and does not like going against the law. She craves acknowledgment. She is very ‘out there’ quirky, always happy and enjoys talking. Her constant good mood can agitate other characters which she doesn’t seem to notice. She is brightly dressed, yet in office wear.

Helen Cash

Helen is Mike Cash’s wife. They have a bit of an unsteady relationship due to the conflict over Mike’s work and Andrew, his son. She has raised Andrew as her own and just wants him to finally be at peace. She understands that Mike is not being 100% truthful about his work but doesn’t know to what extent. Helen does not believe in anything spiritual, including remote viewing and astral projection and gets very angry when people speak about it. She knows of Mike’s infidelity but almost seems to ignore it. Helen speaks to Gloria to try and find out more about what is going on.


Max Taylor

Max is a student at the university. He is in Cash’s neuroscience programme. He is very much a ‘lad’ and is good friends with Dave and Steve, also on Cash’s programme. His relationship with them is very good, there is a lot of banter between them. Max was paid by Cash to start a relationship with Anna but grows to love her. He is cheating on her the night she is attacked and he feels very guilty about this throughout the series. He fights to get Anna back and clearly still loves her throughout. However he also seems as though he may have a sex addiction as he breaks up with Anna after the attack as she is not ready to be with him again. Towards the end of the series Max becomes very determined to find out the truth about the programme.

Nita is a 20 year old Iranian female; she is Anna Knight’s work colleague and friend. At the beginning of the drama she is in an unhealthy abusive relationship with James Mackie. Nita can read Farsi and helps Max read files from Cash’s computer which leads to max discovering what Mike Cash is doing. She is a loyal friend to Anna even though at times she questions what Anna believes she can do e.g. the Astral. At the beginning of the drama Nita is in an unhealthy relationship with James Mackie, until he is killed.

Steve

Steve is friends with Dave and Max, he is on the Neuroscience course. Steve is the quieter one of the group, he is very respectful of people and doesn’t approve of a lot of what the other two do. He is slightly naïve but still one of the lads and does join in with the banter to an extent.
