Chris Lane Productions and Zero Facility Films and are looking to submit an entry to this year's Virgin Media Shorts, the UK's biggest short film competition.

The film is to be directed by the award-winning Mat Johns, produced by Chris Lane, and DoP by award-winning cinematographer, Mike Staniforth. Mat’s recent credits include the critically acclaimed short films 'Kiss' and 'Run'.

'Kiss’ is currently doing the festival circuit and has been selected for a host of film festivals to date, including the prestigious London Short Film Festival. Mat won best director for ‘Kiss’ at the Newport International Film Festival and has been invited to judge next year's entries.

'Run' was made in just four days and released directly online. The film has since been watched by 16,000 people, and gained the admiration of many, including Stephen Fry and Eran Creevy (Shifty, Welcome to the Punch).


Synopsis

'When I'm Sixty-Four' (Working Title) is a short story about finding allies in unexpected places. Two outsiders, an old man and a young boy, come together and show their peers that a generational gap cannot hinder friendship.

Trevor
Male, aged 60 – 70, sad and pensive. A man who once lived with his wife but who now lives alone.

Sean
Male, 10 – 12, skinny, glasses wearing outsider.

Additional Details

Role is unpaid but travel expenses will be paid upon receipt of bus/train/tram tickets as proof of purchase. Food and drink will also be provided.

All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Please submit by forwarding your CV (including headshot/s) and a link to a showreel (if possible).

Successful applicants will be invited to audition. Auditions will take place in central Manchester on either the 1st or 2nd June 2013.

Filming will take place on 22nd and 23rd June 2013 and applicants will, ideally, be Manchester-based.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, 24th May 2013.
