We are shooting a film on Tuesday 10 July in Wychwood Park, Crewe for the Film 4 Scene Stealers competition.

We are looking to cast one female character for the role of DEMI. All actors must be over 18 years of age. The ideal person would be able to convey a sense of compassion / empathy / earth motherly while also being dispassionate / observing. There is no upper limit on the age range.

The piece is a reimagining of a scene from the film Shallow Grave but with a twist....

Overview:

Apollo is a man - he kind of represents Germany / Bankers / Politicians.
Demi - is the world / the EU and general health - a self interested mother earth.
Perpetua represents the future and the hopes and dreams of the common man and the other member EU countries.
Mahallah represents Greece and the other EU countries being slowly forcibly killed by prescribed medicine of EU austerity that Apollo is forcing on them in return for money.
Perpetua is next on Apollo's list for bailouts as she is getting closer to not being able to buy the evening pizza as she is nearly cleared out herself financially and there is no money left in the pot for Demi to rescue her so she is left at Apollo's mercy at the end with his bag of cash and she can see the writing is on the wall so chooses to poison herself with the cigarette and let it all burn rather than taking the money and having to take her share of the austerity medicine.
