'Release' is a gritty study of modern relationships, focusing on the effects a break-up has on a young man with a troubled past. We follow Mal as his own satisfaction to humiliate the girls he sleeps with spirals out of control, and Eve, the girl who broke his heart 2 years earlier.

The themes of the film are: love, sex and redemption.

Committed actors who are comfortable with nudity are needed for this thought-provoking drama.

Auditions will be held in January 2013 in Preston, Lancs. Filming will take place from the end of Jan and should take no longer than 10 three hour days. We plan to enter the completed film into festivals worldwide, including Sundance Film Festival.

Characters:

Mal - Mal is about 22/23 years old. He is a tall, handsome man but hates "pretty boys". He considers himself to be a nice guy but in reality he is quite callous. He has mood swings (more frequently after the break-up with Eve). He has just a few friends and he doesn't follow the crowd. He has quite a dark sense of humour.

Eve - Eve is slightly older than Mal (24/25) and wanted more from their relationship. She's a very intelligent woman who gets what she wants. She's a caring person, but can be quite manipulative when she wants to be.


Sophie is an attractive student (18/19) who goes home with Mal after a night out. She is a happy-go-lucky girl who sees the good in people. She becomes worried however when Mal begins to blackmail her for money with a video that he made of the two of them together.

Shane is one of Mal's few friends (22/23/24). He is very different to Mal and very much enjoys life. He attempts to show Mal the good in life but this just angers Mal, who retaliates by seducing his new girlfriend Jessica.



Jessica is Shane's girlfriend (20/21). She very much likes a drink and going out. She has similar characteristics to Eve and she actually reminds Mal of her. She has drunken sex with Mal one night.
