Wll be presenting Ira Levin's classic comedy-thriller 'Deathtrap, this October at the Brookside Theatre, Romford.

'Deathtrap' is the story about a washed up playwright, Sidney Bruhl, who has his successes behind him and then he receives a fantastic play in the mail from an ex-student named Clifford Anderson. Bruhl invites Cliff home and then tries to trick him out of his fantastic script. When that does not work Bruhl turns to murder, but who will be the victim?

Auditions & rehearsals will be held at the Brookside Theatre, Romford. Rehearsals are normally held 2 evenings a week and Sunday daytimes by a rehearsal schedule (provided).

Sidney Bruhl
Large role - both acts. Very physical. Requires 2 fights, falling on floor. Polished, dashing, wears ascot and smoking jacket type. Buys into the whole Broadway scene. Thinks he's the smartest man in the room and wants people to know it. Is on stage even when at home.
Experienced actor required, aged 40 to 60
Ethnicity: White / Caucasian

Clifford Anderson
Large role - both acts Very physical. Requires 2 fights. Looks physically fit. Good looking College-type look, wears boots,sweaters, jeans Knows he's the smartest man in the room and can bide his time his time to display it (the reveal is ONLY at the very end). When necessary he controls the Sidney/Clifford relationship.
Experienced actor required, aged 25 to 35.

Myra Bruhl
Medium role - Act 1 only. Some physicality - must die and fall to the floor. Has a heart problem and a case of the nerves. Must be able to assist carrying a body out the door. Sophisticated, upper class but embraces the country life Sweet, caring, emotional, nervous, even skittish, very supportive of Sydney's career and moods but does grow some backbone when he crosses the line. Be able to find moments to add life to the scene.
Experienced actress required, aged 30 to 60

Helga ten Dorp
Small role, but appears in both acts Some physicality - a struggle at the end with the lawyer Wild, individual, gypsy-like. Is in and out of this world. Knows she's a celebrity and buys into the show of her gift. She is of German descent. Is disarming and brave when faced with pain and violence. We must see her voyage into and out of the other side. Brave, likes to be involved. Can lose track of dangers in this world.
Strong character actress required, aged 25 to 80

Porter Milgrim
Supporting role - appears in both acts. Suit and tie guy. Professional lawyer yet long-time personal friend of Sidney Normal Solid, observant. Gets caught in the greed of Deathtrap at the end.
