Beth is mother to Laura and grandmother to John and David. She has been living on her own for many years since her husbands death, and is a fiercely independent and spirited woman. She comes to help her daughter Laura in their final days on earth, and to spend it with her last living family. She spends her final days on Earth keeping spirits up, and the family together. She has a strong survival attitude, akin to British spirit during the Blitz. Despite being the oldest member of the household, she is the strongest. Self assured, and faithful to the end.
