Based in the west midlands, 'Melancomedy' is ultimately a 4 part run of short movies routed in dark comedy, detailing the lives of 4 different, highly dysfunctional members of a West Midlands estate. Each 'episode' will follow a different character over roughly the same amount of time and though each narrative will follow its own path, a larger narrative becomes clear as the viewer makes their way through each movie. Think Jimmy McGovern meets Chris Morris to break into Tim Burtons garden.

As you cannot pay a salary, Why should I apply?

As well as showreel material and experience, we would be glad to offer professional head shots and additional shots during pre-production rehearsals + production. The photography coming out of Hoax Studio's is award winning and we have worked with people like Stuart Lee and Alan Moore.

In addition to this, the Actor cast for the role of Anna will appear in all of the promotional poster/photography for episode one of the Melancomedy Presents project, as well as any promotional photography detailing the project as a whole and for these shots, we have the entire resources of Hoax Studios.

All shooting days over 3 hours will include catering and shelter as well, so we will at least do our best to keep all cast and crew members as comfortable as possible during production.

Another one of the things that we hope may separate this project from others, is the ambition to establish a cast and crew early on, that we continue to draw upon for almost every project - a troupe almost. We are hoping to connect with people early on so that we can begin to tailor our writing to the strengths of the people we are working with as we see this as a key to a solid filmmaking foundation (if a little ambitious).
