Aladdin 2017 – Casting Breakdown

Summary
We are looking for Male and Female Performers who are excellent Actors, Singers and Dancers to perform in touring pantomime in South East England

Drivers (Ideally 25 and over) and Non-Drivers (Minimum age 18) required.
Please note: Drivers do not need to provide their own cars for this job, although they can if their car is suitable and they wish to, in this case a bigger weekly wage will be negotiated on an individual basis. If a hire car is needed the company will provide this. Drivers are provided with petrol cards for the duration of their tour. Drivers must be confident as there is a considerable amount of driving each day.

At this point Outside the Box Productions LTD are interested in hearing from performers who can be based in and around the following areas: Medway, Southend, Essex, Chelmsford, Colchester & Ipswich

Teams consist of three cast members, playing multiple roles with one designated driver.
In most instances teams will be based from a home address and return there where possible. Due to the nature of touring there will be instances where it is deemed necessary for a team to stay overnight. In these instances, the company will provide accommodation.

This is a tour, therefore there is a considerable amount of travelling and teams do not stay in one area they will travel outside of their home areas.

Teams will perform up to three shows in one day. (On the very rare occasion where four shows are scheduled; performers will be paid extra.)
The shows are an hour long and teams perform their own get in\'s/outs.
The vast majority of shows are performed in schools, other performance venues include but are not limited to nurseries, corporate Christmas parties, community centres, village halls and garden centres.

All teams are on call Seven days a week, therefore undertaking other work whilst completing this contract is not advised and quite often is not possible.
Teams will have one scheduled day off out of seven, (depending on each teams schedule there may be more than one out of Seven.) Teams need to be available Seven days a week in case they are needed to cover an emergency.
Shows can and will fall on every day of the week, therefore we cannot state which day off in a week each team will have.
If substantial auditions/opportunities come up whilst working for us, we will do our best to try and help reschedule so performers can still attend. However, there will be instances where this is not possible so all actors should assume they are unavailable whilst working this contract.

Please only apply if you have an excellent singing voice that is flexible and able to sing current pop.
We are looking for performers with comic timing, huge energy, who are comfortable with audience participation and improvisation as well the ability to play a number of characters. Performers will be required to multirole so clear character choices and accents are needed.
A passion for children\'s/family entertainment and pantomime is a must!

Production Dates
Auditions will commence 22nd September 2017 You will be given a private 15 minute slot to attend.
Rehearsals will be 3 days in November and will take place in Kent (Venue TBC)
Each team will be required to rehearse for three days.

Car Pick ups and Start Dates will vary from team to team as will finish dates.
All car pick ups will take place from 30th Nov - 7th December.
The earliest start date is 2nd Dec and the latest finish date is 23rd Dec but every teams start and finish date varies in between this time period.

There may be a possibility of the tour extending into January 2018 – please state if you are unavailable.

Casting Info

We shall consider all applications and invite those we wish to see in for an audition.

The auditions will be timed appointments and we will require those attending to prepare the following:

- 2 x Current Pop Songs
- 1 x Musical Theatre Song

We want to hear something that has been in the charts within the last three years. This is the type of music that is used in our shows so we need to see that those auditioning are comfortable singing in this style with a backing track. Good examples are: One Direction, Little Mix, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Olly Murs, Years and Years, Jess Glynne, Justin Timberlake, Ed Sheeran etc. The musical Theatre song may be from any post war show, we sometimes ask auditionees to sing this so we can look at their vocal technique.

- Prepare a Joke!

- We will also ask auditionee\'s to read some script on the day.
Please let us know if you are dyslexic, as we can assist by sending over a copy of the script prior to the audition day to help preparation.
