We are in development of a feature film titled - Tooting Broadway, Produced
by Joshua Clement of Indian summer films and directed by Dev Shanmugam.

Tooting Broadway is an urban crime drama set in 2009, one day before the
Tamil Protests outside The Houses of Parliament. The film opens with the
murder of a young girl Kayal, whose connection to characters in the film
has explosive consequences.This is the story of Arun, a young man who has
forged a life away from his past criminal ties. He returns to stop his
younger brother committing a criminal act that could ruin his life and
seriously harm someone. Arun has 24 hours to stop him or the consequences
will be dire.

The film incorporates themes such as family, betrayal, loyalty, honour,
love and obedience to the state, to propel the story above the average gang
film. It also utilises a community and culture rarely seen:Tamil youth
gangs. The infamous Tamil gangs of today are a powerful entity, so much so
that, Scotland Yard have their own taskforce dedicated to stopping them.

This film caters to a variety of groups, both youths and adults. It
contains the elements necessary to ensure a broad appeal to audiences. The
films we have done in the past have been Namastey london, King of bollywood
and Straight. They have all been released in cinemas around the world.

This film will be shot in London for cinematic release worldwide, The
format will be in Red one.

Arun is a man who has grown up in Tooting Broadway. The product of a
displaced family, he does what most immigrants do; find others he can
identify with. As he grows, he observes how locals defer to certain
individuals who appear to have money and power. These men are the original
gang- The Tooting Tamils. He looks up to these men as they offer a future.

Character: Karuna Thulasingam

About:
Age & Description: Mid 20s. Attractive and physically imposing.
Traits:External: Charismatic larger than life.

little love for anyone but those he holds dear as "family".

Biography:Karuna is marginally older than Arun. Having been bounced around
the foster care system, he settles in Tooting Broadway. Like Arun, he has
faced abuse, but in his current residence he merely faces apathy. It is
from this apathy that Karuna goes out to seek more and finds Arun and the
gang and is sets a plan to rule Tooting Broadway.

into gang life.

Subtext: Ruthi harbors a dark secret and thus all his external
qualities mask the character he truly is.

Biography:Ruthi was a young boy when his father was killed. One day his
father was there, the next he wasn’t. While it became obvious he wasn’t
coming back, he still maintained some hope their family would unite. He
looked up to Arun enormously, and felt abandoned when he too, leaves.

Biography: Kayal has grown up on the Tooting scene. For many years it
seemed she would never escape the nondescript life so many other young
Asian girls had of marriage to a ’suitable’ boy and raise a family. She
wanted more and committed herself to studying hard with the aim of becoming
a doctor. And she funds her studies by being an escort.

Character: Malika Senthooran

Biography: Mallika, like many from the area was the product of a violent
home. Her parents were a combination of strict paternal authority, and
mindless female servitude. She is the love of Karuna the gang leader and
the main member of the Gang, she goes by the name of Dark Angel.
