It’s just before the end of the summer school term in 2005 and gathered together on the school playing field are Johnny Mighty with glass mates and all the other students competing for that prestigious school sports trophy. In the distance you can hear the shout of Mr George Murphy - Johnny’s strict games coach, he yells, get yourselves ready to run the race of your lives. Johnny looks at is best friend Marvin and says, fam this is it��..The starter gun fires, in a shot Johnny was ahead, whilst running all he could hear people screaming was ‘ run Johnny run’ for a split second he closed his eyes and thought about one day running at the 2012 Olympics! Johnny made it to the finish line in an incredible time. His mum Pearl Mighty along with his older brother and sister jumps around with joy and runs over to give him a huge hug, Johnny is so overwhelmed, he could hardly speak. Everyone is so happy for Johnny except Joel Green the kid who came last, Joel is fuming with anger and looks over at Johnny with so much hate and envy��..

During the summer holiday Johnny gets a weekend Job working at footlocker in the west end, his position is taking up stock to the floor, his manager Kate Swanton loves when Johnny is working because he is always so quick on running up the stairs. One evening after a stock take, Johnny and his ‘workmate’ Colleen Samuel heads down the round to McDonalds, Colleen says to Johnny i don’t have enough money cause I’ve just toped up my Oyster this morning, don’t worry fam i’ll pay for you, Colleen looks at Johnny with a sweet smile. As they were walking, in the distance they could see a group of boys hanging around the McDonalds, as they got closer, Johnny recognises some of them, one of the boys in particular, Joel Green the kid who came last at the school race. As Johnny and Colleen are about to enter the restaurant, Joel says to Johnny, so you think it’s over fam? Johnny replies, I don’t have any beef wid you blood, it was just a school race, now schools done yeah! One of Joel’s friends comes up to Colleen and puts his arm around her shoulders, colleen pushes him away and ask what he’s doing, Joel says to Johnny, your girl just disrespected my boy fam, just has Johnny was about to tell Colleen that they better leave, another one of Joel’s friends throws milkshake all over Colleen, Johnny quickly pulls Colleens hand and runs down the road, Colleen shouts ‘run Johnny run’, Joel Friends pursues with a chase and catches up with them, one of them walks up to Johnny and shoves him to the ground, all of a sudden there is a big fight with Joel and Johnny, before it could get any worse, feds was on the scene in minutes. Johnny Shouts I’ve been stabbed! Later that evening after leaving the hospital, Colleen meets up with Marvin to explain what had happened. A few days later Johnny was released from hospital, that same day around 10.37pm roomers was flying around the estate that Joel had been shot! Around a week later, Johnny and Marvin were arrested and were subsequently sentenced for their involvement in the shooting.

During time spent in jail, Johnny trained and ran allot, never giving up on his hope on running at the 2012 Olympics. He was loved by the inmates on his block because he was the fastest runner on their football team and the opponent players couldn’t stop him. Colleen never stopped writing and visiting Johnny until his release. Johnny was sent to prison as boy and now released as a man seven years later determined to triumph over adversity. Whilst he was inside he managed to stay in touch with is former school coach who helped him to look forward in accomplishing is dreams of competing at the 2012 Olympics. His mum looks on in tears as she sits in the auditorium with friends and family along with Colleen and her little boy, the starter gun goes off, there is a massive roar - but all you can hear was ‘run Johnny run.
