Details:

\"Motswakwa\" is a short drama film based around two African immigrants seeking asylum in the UK, specifically a father and his teenage daughter. It is a story where we focus on showcasing how some refugees, specifically from a minority background, are treated within the UK regulatory system, both the good and the bad.

It is produced and directed by a team from an MA Film degree from the University Of The Arts university in London (UAL) for their graduation film project. The purpose of the project will be to bring awareness to the faults within the UK Law system when it comes to asylum seekers looking for a safe and secure environment having come from war-torn countries. And it will be sent out to various film festivals across the world, upon its completion.

It is mandatory for both the father and daughter characters to be able to speak the same African mother tongue in parts of the story. They are preferably to be Kenyan or Nigerian and speak Swahili or another language within the Nigerian region. We have two main characters which are Ommeh (Daughter) and Joseph (Father). And three secondary characters which are Shiloh (Teenage boy), Louie (Immigration Officer) and Ashis (Robber). The rehearsal dates will be between the 15th and 17th July 2018. The production dates will be between the 18th to the 25th July 2018. The project will be shot in London.

This project is being produced by a group of MA Film students from the prestigious and world renown University Of The Arts London (UAL). It follows the story of a father and daughter, refugees from Kenya, seeking asylum in the UK and their trials and tribulations from it.
