Details:

Sophie Ford has a secret capable of destroying her family's pride and reputation. Witness her bloody ambition in an operatic thriller where revenge is a dish best served beautiful.

"The Queen of Hearts" is a new 45 minute musical. The piece is being produced alongside several other pieces from the Goldsmiths College (University of London) MA Musical Theatre Writing and Producing Programme.


Audition Dates: Monday 23rd and Monday 30th of July 2012

Rehearsal Dates (on Call): Evenings of 13th-17th, 20th-24th, 28th-31st August, 3rd-7th, 9th September

Performance Dates: 8:30pm 14th September 2012 (including 1 performance on 15th September 2012 at 5:00pm)

N.B. Some cast for this show will be double-cast in "Letters to Myself" (please refer to another job from us). This will mean that the actors will perform in 4 performances (2 of each show).

ROLES:

Title: Baxter Ford

Gender: Male

Age Range: 40-55

Height: Tall

Build: Formerly athletic

Vocal requirement: Baritone (to high Ab) - Must have a strong G

Character Description:
Baxter is the patriarch of the Ford family. He is a charasmatic, imposing man who was once an athlete (perhaps an Oxbridge rower��) now a little older & worried about his impending financial wrack & ruin��

Title: Elizabeth Ford

Gender: Female

Age Range: 40-55

Height: Average

Build: Slim, lithe, elegant

Vocal requirement: Mezzo to Ab

Character Description:
Elizabeth is the matriarch of the Ford family. She is refined, restrained, elegant, well-mannered & stylish, despite having to wear slightly out-of-date fashions. A true lady.

Title: Robert/Clarke

Gender: Male

Age Range: 25+

Vocal requirement: Baritone/Tenor up to G

Character Description:
A slit role, playing Robert - the grounds keeper, & later Clarke - a legal clerk meeting with Baxter about his business affairs.

Title: Sophie Ford

Gender: Female

Age Range: 21-28

Height: Average/Tall

Build: Slim, lithe, elegant

Vocal requirement: Ideall Sop (to top C) OR Mezzo with good top range (up to A/Bb)

Character Description:
Sophie is the main protagonist of the piece. She is aloof, lithe & duplicitous. She also has a dark secret that she has harboured for nearly 20 years & is ready to take her revenge. She is described in the stage directions as 'dramatically beautiful'.

Build: Rakish

Character Description:
Vincent is Baxter's dodgy business associate who also has a dark & duplicitous past. He was formerly Elizabeth's lover & has returned to Ford Manor to make a business proposal to Baxter��

Vocal requirement: Tenor (up to top C/D)

Character Description:
James is the new serving boy at Ford Manor. He begins his employment at the start of the play & almost immediately falls in love with Sophie. He is an attractive, athletic young man & despite his lowly beginnings, he turns Sophie's head��
