This is a CASTING CALL for a short film in Manchester. OPEN AUDITIONS next Thursday 6th March.

We are producing a short drama about a young man who is blinded in an accident, and the repercussions that follow. The eventual aim of the project will be to get screening at national independent film festivals.

Filming will be over the first and second weeks of April in the Manchester area. Rehearsals will be evenings/weekends from mid-march, although this is flexible to a degree, and we will try to coordinate convenient times with our actors as much as possible.

The budget for the film will be mainly reserved for filming locations/insurance and therefore we are regrettably unable to cover any expenses.

Auditions will be held at Room 3 of the University of Manchester Students’ Union (Oxford Road, M13 9PR), on Thursday 6th March from 5pm to 8pm. Please note auditions are OPEN TO EVERYONE (INCLUDING NON-STUDENTS).

Characters:

Gabriel, male, age 25-35
Gabriel is a obsessively vain and ruthlessly successful at work, he resolves to change after an accident leaves him blind

Simon, age 25-40
Colleague and competitor of Gabriel, appears in support of Gabriel after the accident but his motives are unclear

Christine, age 50-65
Mother of Gabriel, caring and emotional, has difficulty dealing with the repercussions of the accident

Sarah, age 20-30
Wife of Gabriel, supportive of Gabriel after the accident, but is hiding a secret

Dr Russell, female, age 25-40
Gabriel's doctor at the hospital, professional and very intelligent, successfully diagnoses Gabriel's condition
