Details:

Casting for TWO LEAD ROLES for ’Solace’- a 35-minute short film, a dark love tragedy about two violinists, who get entangled in a strange, yet such humane romantic relationship, where one strives to save the other. It is a story about two people who, despite their generational differences, find out that underneath their pursuit for musical greatness lies a fundamental need to love.

Blair Dawson is an ambitious 21-year-old violinist, mature beyond her years, who gets mentored by one of her major musical inspirations - a renowned violinist, David Pryce. Despite her undeniable talent and a profound emotional and musical sensibility that makes for a great musician, Blair struggles to recognize these things herself. As she starts developing feelings for her mentor, she realizes that in the pursuit for musical greatness her inner battle has very little to do with musical skills. It’s the truth she doesn’t want to face.

We are looking for a lead female actress who has a skill of playing a violin. Perhaps you played when you were a child, perhaps it was just a hobby, or maybe you took it a step further and committed to a music school - regardless of the musical training level, we are just looking for confidence and an ability to play the instrument.

David Pryce is a charismatic 43-year-old violinist, who has been enjoying his musical success for almost two decades. He doesn’t mind the isolation caused by fame, as music has been his long-term partner and he never felt particularly attached to people. However, behind the facade of confidence and an all-encompassing obsession with music, there is a great amount of unhappiness and brokenness. As Blair enters David’s life and their relationship takes an unexpected romantic turn, he realizes that although love is his remedy - it is also his ultimate end.

We are looking for a male actor who has a skill of playing a violin. Perhaps you were playing as a kid, took it as a hobby, or committed yourself to a music school - regardless of the level of musical training, we are just looking for confidence and an ability to play the instrument.

The film is written and directed by Kateryna Kononenko, a third-year film student who has recently become a winner of a TV format competition at MIPTV in Cannes, France. The crew involved in this production consists of industry professionals, who work in film and commercial field. The production itself is supported by one of the established commercial directors with over thirty years of experience.

For the two days of shoot in mid-June, we are filming only one scene (8 pages) out of the 32-page script.

The scene will be a part of the whole film, the rest of which is currently planned to be shot throughout summer 2019 - the scheduling of which is to be confirmed.
Rehearsals will take place in Central London at Regent’s University London in Regent’s Park (Baker Street); starting the weekend of 7th of June and will run within a period of 7 days.

The actors will be paid for shooting days, as well as rehearsals. Travel expenses and meals are covered.

AUDITIONS:
Happening on the 4th and 5th of June from 9am to 8pm. The applicants will be contacted with the details and to confirm their time slot for the audition.
