i) Maud (playing age 16-19): a flighty, unstable character with dreams of stardom, but with a drugs habit and her feet in the air rather than firmly on the ground. A confident appearance that belies a fragile identity.
ii) Elaine (playing age 18-20): attempting to move on from an earlier relationship, but hindered by the fact that her "ex" refuses to let her go;
also by the fact that her new boyfriend is preoccupied with "saving" Maud. Vulnerable yet resilient, unafraid to show her feelings.
Justin (playing age 19-22): beginning a relationship with Elaine but still in thrall to a past relationship with Maud, which comes to dominate everything else, so that he neglects Elaine even when she is in danger from her ex-boyfriend.
