The Artists Theatre Collective is a Calgary based theatre company founded by Amanda Liz Cutting in 2012. Their raison d'etre is to create fresh, exciting work, and to showcase and develop emerging artists. You can see their current Canadian season on their website:

In August - October 2019, ACT brings their first tour to the UK. We are auditioning for a pool of actors to perform in one or both of Genesis: The Mary Shelley Play and Haunted House Hamlet.

Current plans include a two week run for Genesis at The Edinburgh Fringe, followed by a run at a London venue. Haunted House Hamlet will tour around the UK predominantly outside of London. It is the UK premier of both shows.

Genesis: The Mary Shelley Play

Lake Geneva, early summer, 1816. GENESIS takesplace in the living room of Diodati, Byron’s villa, and the bedroom of Mary and Shelley’s villa, now named theMaison Chapuis, which was located up the hillside from Diodati. It stunningly portrays the nights of intrigue and titillation between Lord Byron, Mary & Percy Shelley, Dr. Pollidori, and Claire Clairmont inspiring Mary Shelley to produce one of the most celebrated works of horror literature.

Haunted House Hamlet

It is present day, and your typical punk, Jimmy “Spider” McKuen, stumbles upon an old (haunted) mansion. There he meets none other than the Prince of Denmark himself, Hamlet. Enthralled in the classic tale he is reminded of from his brief school days, he follows Hamlet, Ophelia, and the rest of Shakespeare’s characters so far as to start talking in iambic pentameter! Haunted House Hamlet is designed so that audience members can structure their own experience of viewing it.

Genesis: The Mary Shelley Play

LORD BYRON, age 28
(Note: research reveals that Lord Byron was called Elbe and/or Albe) CLAIRE GODWIN, age 18

Haunted House Hamlet

Hamlet: son of the late King, nephew to the present King
Horatio/Jimmy “Spider” McKuen: your typical punk kid (male/female)
Ghost: of Hamlet’s father
Gertrude: Queen of Denmark, Hamlet’s mother
Claudius: King of Denmark, Hamlet’s uncle
Laertes: Polonius’ son (male/female)
Ophelia: Polonius’ daughter
Polonius: Chief counsellor to the King (male/female)
Rosencrantz & Guildenstern: Courtiers, friends of Hamlet (male/female)
Gravedigger: a Sexton (male/female)

Intimacy notes for Genesis: The Mary Shelley Play
Both female parts require some nudity in the script. The actors playing Byron and Percy will need to partake in some same-sex male intimacy. All intimate scenes will be carefully choreographed by an IDI Intimacy Director.

Mary - breasts exposed
Clare - buttocks exposed.
