Job Specifics:

Details:
THEATRE PRODUCTION: Breaking the Code is the story of Alan Turing, the gay mathematician who broke the Enigma Code during WWII. This is about his tragic personal life. While he was of value to the nation, his homosexuality was tolerated. But once his usefulness was over, he was prosecuted for Gross Indecency and chemically castrated. This play jumps back and forth in time exploding his relationship with his mother, and a boy he fell in love with at public school. It covers the fatal flaw in his character that led to his fall from grace, through to his suicide in the early fifties. A moving play, funny at time, and very revealing about wartime England.
NOTE: auditions, rehearsals and performances are in Brighton. Local actors are preferred. All of the money is going to the cost of the production, so there is no room for paying travel expenses from outside Brighton.
Cast required:
Sara Turing: Turing's mother. playing a woman in her thirties in 1925 and later in her life in 1950s. Big role.
Ron Miller: about twenty. A bisexual working class lad from Manchester. Big role.
Sergeant Ross: a northern copper. Big role.
Pat Green: mid to late twenties. Worked with Turing on breaking the Enigma. Big role.
