1 x Female
1 x Male

‘How Do You Plead?’ is a 10-minute short film directed by Lucy Harris, Lucy also played a major role in the conception of the script and original idea, she knows the characters inside and out.

Synopsis

Susie sits laughing with her best friend, Isabelle, when she decides to leave. As she is making her way out she collides with William and he drops his polaroid camera to the floor and spills his drink down her front. Before Susie leaves he asks if they can take a picture and Susie obliges.

As she leaves the house Susie is distracted by her phone and walks into a man who swears at her as she’s made him drop his pizza. As she turns to look at the man she jumps when she sees a dark figure in the distance, appearing to be looking directly at her. She walks forward and checks behind her again, breathing a sigh of relief when she sees the figure has gone.

Suddenly her phone rings, it’s Isabelle – she’s incredibly drunk.

The phone call reminds her of the first sleepover she had at Isabelle’s house after an argument. They briefly discuss how Susie should have listened to her from the start and she would have avoided all the heartache.

As Susie continues to walk down the street listening to her best friend’s drunk antics down the phone she does not notice the figure following her. She also doesn’t hear the click of a polaroid camera in the distance.

As she continues to walk she begins to think about all the things she regrets; an unwanted pregnancy, an argument with her mother, and deciding not attend university.

All of a sudden she is grabbed from behind and dragged away from the main road.

Later, in court, William is on trial for her murder.
