Salford Learning Disability Service are currently working on the production of a new dvd to be used for staff training. The aim of this short film is to explain what a learning disability is, identify some of the challenges that an individual with a learning disability may face in daily life and present some practical strategies to support individuals with a learning disability with some of these challenges.
The role involves playing a new member of staff (can be male or female) on their first day at work in a day centre supporting people with a learning disability. No experience of working with individuals with a learning disability is necessary, however, the right person must be over the age of 18 and will be warm and approachable and confident in front of the camera.
You will need to be available to take part in filming all day Wednesday – Friday this week (11-13th July) with the possibility of 1 extra day the following week if filming falls behind schedule.
Participation will be on a voluntary basis, however, we can help with transportation to the location if needed and are happy to provide references for you and copies of the finished product for use in show reels . This is a great opportunity to boost your CV and work alongside a professional actress and actors with a learning disability.
