Miscommunication follows Alec, a quiet loner who is obsessed with the girl of his dreams, Grace. Due to a troubled childhood he struggles to communicating with anyone due to a terrible stutter, and instead takes to writing his thoughts and feelings on his typewriter.
When Alec\'s abusive stepfather comes to stay, Alec\'s uncontrollable temper leads him on a downward spiral into oblivion.
Miscommunication is a student film, being made as the Final Major Project at Sheffield Hallam University for our 3rd year. The film will be entered to festivals and competitions across the country. We are looking to film one week during February, both day and night shoots. Auditions will be held early January.
As a student film we are unable to pay a salary, however expenses from those travelling within South Yorkshire will be covered and a copy of the film will be provided for your showreel.
Characters
Alec is the protagonist of the film, in his mid to late 20s.
He is a scrawny man, who looks permanently disheveled and scruffy.
He has a debilitating stutter that means he struggles to communicate with anyone, especially Grace, the girl he is obsessed with.
He often has violent outbursts whilst in the seclusion of his flat to vent his frustration.
Males, aged 25 to 30 from Sheffield, United Kingdom
Henry is Alec\'s abusive stepfather. After an incident with Alec\'s mother he is forced to leave home, and invites himself to stay at Alec\'s flat.
He is a large, well built bald man in his early 50s. A heavy drinker, he is a womanizer and a bully, particularly regarding Alec and his stutter.
Males, aged 50 to 55 from Sheffield, United Kingdom
Grace is a beautiful young girl in her 20s. She works at the shop across the way from Alec\'s flat. Bored with her job and already having a boyfriend, she doesn\'t notice Alec or his attempts to talk with her.
Females, aged 20 to 30 from Sheffield, United Kingdom
