Details:

I am a 24 year old filmmaker who has been making films, mainly writing - in a purely amateur capacity for the last 10 years. As we move into the new decade the time has come for me to put my money where the camera is ...

I am funding 14 days of shooting to produce a short film in order to sell the full length script in some capacity. My small crew are experienced enough to provide a comfortable atmosphere for our actors and you can expect 9-5 shooting for up to 14 days in Essex & London.

Small family atmosphere is the name of the game - Because we wont have a giant budget it is the chemistry of the actors that will be important when i take the product for professional consideration etc
__________
TONE
Providing the tone of the film without a script is not simple. The idea is to produce something modern, reflective of diverse 21st century metropolitan values but with references to the mystery of the spirits and fantasy - the lightest dash nothing hammy. Very little action, lots of dialogue and tension building up throughout scenes with one or maybe 2 scenes of violent tension and release.

______
Firstly you will need a webcam and a good internet connection because I will want to talk to ''prospective candidates'' ( what an uptight phrase!).

Of course I will probably send you a short scene to sink your teeth into and record.

Currently Two Parts to cast:

A ) Late 30’s - late 60's London man in suit type. Flawed person Closest thing to a villan

B ) 20 something Female Uber type driver. MUST HAVE A DRIVING LICENSE Emotional baggage with lots of promise that turned sour in her late teens. Closest thing to a Protagonist

The businessman has the first scene to himself which acts as a hook. Once he has done what he does he uses his phone uber type app at the start of the film . The car that arrives is driven by her and it is this initial scene in her car that will make or break the film. It is the conversational interaction that gets the ball moving. It is down to me to make sure my script has enough meat on the bones and then the wonderful challenge of making a small car scene interesting with a choice of cuts etc.
The chemistry and acting in this scene will make or break it.

A) Middle aged 'political' businessman type. Think of a Dominic Cummings type - I mean that in the sense of someone with a shadow ( Jungian sense). Mild mannered not a pantomime caricature. A very capable type with a very standard public persona. He was a good man in his youth driven to do dark things in his late 20’s which forever changed him. He was born into a dirty world and now is covered in filth. He is privately shocked at what he has become. He wants to be seen as humble and makes the mistake of pretending in public to be someone better than he actually is - this predictably produces an emotional tension in him which has been slowly killing him, he is fading.
This character is not an all powerful Svengali but a businessman with a secret. He is involved with something dark, occult and demonic but this side of him is not how he thinks of himself.

B) The Protagonist. She is an Uber type driver . I like to think of her as focused enough on the outside world to be socially savvy but with enough introversion to have been a math scholarship type star during her time at college But if she told you that you would be surprised.. Something happened in her personal life which made her turn away from her family and not go to the Oxbridge University she was offered at age 18. Instead she drives during the day and purses creative indulgences during her spare time - lots of dreaming. Can you play guitar? Or perhaps paint? Would not by any means by ideal but would be great to showcase during the scenes in her apartment.

Prospective actors will be asked to record a scene on their own. Then the next stage is a run through of the first car scene.

The production will have insurance and contracts and will be paid at £9 an hour.
