About Me

My name is Andy and I am a 19 year student, born and raised in Cambridge but currently living in Ipswich, Suffolk for University. I am currently in my second year of working towards a degree in Photography. I have lots of unpaid experience in working on short film projects, some directed by me and some where I was simply working as part of a team for projects being run by other people, for example being a member of the crew for a group of third year Film and TV students' degree project film. To work in almost any position on a film set would be my dream career. I have worked both on stage and behind the scenes in multiple amateur dramatic productions.

I have also done paid work as a supporting artist, when I portrayed a soldier sitting in the trenches in the first world war, in Sam Mendes' 1917. This involved having a conversation in the background of a shot, wearing a heavy, period-accurate costume which was selected at a fitting, taking personal responsibility for the care of props and costume pieces (for example a helmet and a replica rifle), travelling to a location for an early call time each day, staying in accomodation nearby a shoot location, and learning military commands, behaviors and history from on-set instructors in order to compliment the portrayal of a character.
