About Me

My Name is Tom Hammell and I live in the Village of Harmby just outside the town of Leyburn, Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park situated in the county of North Yorkshire.

I am a former student studying for BTEC Interactive Media for 2 years at Darlington College, County Durham and BA Hons Animation and Design for 3 years at the University of Sunderland.

I currently work as a Production Operative at Wensleydale Diary Products in the town of Hawes, North Yorkshire. I am also a volunteer on Wensleydale Railway working on the on-board train buffet providing refreshments to the passenger riding between Leeming Bar and Redmire and back.

I have also been a volunteer for Hull during there year as the UK City of Culture in 2017. Also I have work for Connecting Youth Culture (CYC) which is a part of the North Yorkshire County Council at County Hall, Northallerton. They helped to organise art and cultural event and festival for Young People such as the Culture Shock Festival which was held just before the school summer holiday.

My hobbies are Train (and other transports), Animation and all aspect of Media which includes Radio and Photography. This I have shown as I would like to be a freelance animator so I am hoping to be able to pick up on my College and Uni skills sometime in the future such as After Effects, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Dragon Stop Motion, etc. At present I am doing some filming for YouTube on Railway Journeys from the passenger seat to show people that a railway journey is more then just getting from A - B, it is an adventure from what you can see and hear just from looking out of the window and seeing a different part of the world. I also have Social Media accounts on Facebook, Instagram and Flickr where you will find photographs albums of my trips over the last few years.
