About Me

Gonçalo Larsen (born 11 January 1986) is a session guitarist and songwriter. He was born in Cascais, Portugal, and is currently working with the band One Hundred and Twenty, and the band Legs & Arms. He was also guitarist and keyboardist of the band The Girl in The Black Bikini, alongside the TV hostess Carolina Torres/vocals, Ricardo Pinto/guitar (Texas Baby), Sales JE/bass (RAMP / Icon & The Black Roses) and Daniel Cardoso/drums (Anathema). He was also lead singer and lead guitarist of The Hypers.

Larsen began playing guitar at the age of 12 and founded his first band The Hypers when he was 18. He released three EP’s with this band. They were influenced by classic hard rock and heavy metal music. The band was invited as opening act for some important Portuguese rock bands such as Peste e Sida, and international bands such as Messer Chups, and played in some medium-sized festivals in Portugal. In 2010 they won Corroios’s Modern Music Festival and Setubal’s 7Rock Festival in the same night, and they were included in the compilation Novos Talentos FNAC. His experiences with The Hypers helped him to get some recognition within the musical circuit in Portugal. In 2013 the band split, and a few months later he was invited to join a new rock band called The Girl in the Black Bikini, where he played guitar and keyboards. In the first year they launched the single Trash, produced by their drummer Daniel Cardoso, which led them to some TV appearences, and some Portuguese festivals. Currently the band is in hiatus.

Bio
Larsen is now collaborating with Arlindo Cardoso (Icon & The Black Roses / Low Torque) in the latter’s solo project called One Hundred and Twenty. He is simultaneously working in the debut record of a new project called Legs & Arms with some other experienced musicians: the drummer Rui Berton (Bizarra Locomotiva), the guitarist Edgar Leito (The Vicious Five) and Alexandre Mendes (Twenty Inch Burial) with a Gothic / Alternative based sound.

Besides his work as a performer, he has also worked as road manager, in partnership with Void Agency, for bands such as Ena Pá 2000, Irm�£os Catita, Jorge Palma, some solo artists such as Fernando Alvim, Marcia, and even his own band The Girl in the Black Bikini. Working with Void Creations, he has been part of the production of artistic events throughout the country.

Larsen also provides guitar classes, as part of his professional activity.

Interests & Hobbies

My main interests and activities lie in music. Besides enjoy playing guitar, I also like to
explore other instruments and musical gear. I have been attending gigs on a regular basis
since the age of 18 and later started going to festivals. I also like sports, especially those
where there is a sense of competition, such as football or baseball, which I have been
practicing since I was a kid. I also really like reading, from technical books to romances,
and keep informed about the news of the world, by reading newspapers and listening to
podcasts about political issues.
