Miscellaneous Information

Travelling Experiences:

Fiji
I travelled to three islands in Fiji with Youth with a Mission for four weeks in June 2007. I lived with families in villages and helped them with everyday tasks such as fishing and mat weaving, cooking and gardening. We had a performance that we did in towns, schools and even a fish factory. We held kids programmes, youth groups and took part in church services in the villages. This was an amazing experience but came with its challenges, and this helped develop character!

Solomon Islands
I travelled to four islands in the Solomons with Youth with a Mission for four weeks in July. I worked with World Vision doing Tsunami and earthquake relief. This involved digging 'long-drop' squat toilets and helping to straighten houses after the damage caused by the earthquake and tsunami. Being immersed in island culture was enriching but tough at times. We also did interviews with the Solomon Island radio station and 'Fast-forward' Youth Television programme in the capital, Honiara.

Romania
In 2004 and again in 2006 I travelled to Romania with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) to work with street kids and prostitutes for three weeks in the summer. This developed great independence and forced me out of my comfort zone. Getting along with other people and working as a team was extremely important. I really enjoyed this work and feel I have developed a heart for the people of Romania.

Australia
Whilst spending six months in Australia I worked in a surf shop and travelling around the east coast. I did a surf course for two weeks and ended up staying on to work for the company cooking for an extra week!

NewZealand
In NewZealand I did the Auckland harbour bridge bunjee jump, which I can say was one of the best experiences of my life! The feeling of leaping off a bridge and free-falling was indiscribable and furthered my taste for adventure and adrenaline.
