We are a group of MA Filmmaking students at the University of Sussex producing a 20-minutes romantic thriller, as a part of our thesis film for the course, called “AN UNPOPULAR MAN”

“AN UNPOPULAR MAN” is a romantic thriller about Bruce, an 18 years old young man, who will find himself falling in love with a mysterious woman painter while he is doing his best to destroy her mother's second marriage. But when he walks into the painter’s inner world, a spectacular painting inadvertently reveals a dark truth about his mother.

We are looking for 2 actors and 2 actresses who are interested in developing his/her character with the director through a short rehearsal period. Ideally you will be experienced in improvisation, flexible when working with text, able to develop character, and highly committed to the role. We welcome actors with any or no training, background, and experience.

Payment: cover you travel expense

- For rehearsal and shooting days, travel expenses will be covered for Brighton and surrounds. Food and drink will be provided on shooting days.
- You must be available for 2 - 3 rehearsals throughout July (flexible to your availability) and 4 - 5 days of shooting in late July. (Exact dates to be negotiated)
- You will be provided a copy of the film for your showreel. It will also be submitted to national film festivals.
- This role is perfect for an actor who is building their showreel and wanting to gain further experience in film acting.

Character:
Bruce-Male 18-20 years old, He is a rebel and handsome young man. His parents divorced when he was 6 years old. And he lives with her mother Emma who is a strong and pushy woman.

Emma-Female 45-55 years old, She used to be a graduate of academy of Fine Arts. But a failed marriage and the pressures of raising her son alone let she had to be an oil painting saleswoman. She tried her best to give her son a good material condition through spent all her attention on her work. But this caused a big misunderstanding between the mother and son.

Jessica-Female 23-28 years old, a beautiful and attractive painter, she is also a mistress.

James-Male 40-55 years old, he is a successful businessman who is mature, gentle, and generous. He is Emma’s boyfriend and will be the stepfather of Bruce.
