Synopsis: Every year millions of people celebrate the final hours together. This year an ambitious radio project is set up in order to give their viewers one wish before the year is out. The hitch is, they rely on a complete stranger to grant it. In the style of films such as Love Actually and Valentine's Day, we follow several stories until the final minute. Their lives are unravelled and entwined discovering their mistakes, their hopes, and their losses. But can they make it in time?

Characters:

Amy
Amy is an intellectual undergraduate studying journalism. As the almost-narrator of the story, she is a unique character in that her wish is never truly revealed and her story only develop others'. Age 19.

Pippa
Suffering from depression due to an unknown circumstance, Pippa remains silent throughout the first act. However, she is far from your typical damsel in distress as Pippa becomes her own hero. Although reserved and self-conscious, she does momentarily snap causing a flurry of extreme emotions and loss of control, all focussed through a single shot. Age 22.

Liam
Socially awkward, Liam tends to say the wrong thing. Whether that be a joke that nobody laughs at or swearing wildly in front of a 60 year old woman. However, Liam takes his music very seriously; although stuck working 9-5 in a dull cafe to pay the bills, he dreams of breaking into the music industry. Age 20. REQUIRED TO SING AND PLAY GUITAR.

Grace
At 60 years old, Grace feels as though the best years have passed along with her late husband. Therefore it is no surprise that she wishes to feel young again. Considerate and caring, there is a side of her more hopeful, in that she believes it is never too late. Age 60.

George
George has been grieving the loss of his family for years, leaving him miserable and pessimistic towards most everything. His negativity is almost comical with snide remarks and retorts. Eventually, his perception shifts entirely, leaving him hopeful and fulfilled. Age 48.


Kelsie
A Juno-like character in that Kelsie is sassy and witty, perhaps due to the loss of her mother 4 years ago. However, her guard does fall when confronting her father concerning his lack effort as a dad. Looking after herself has made her strong, yet protective when confronted. Best friends with Amy, she is thoroughly supportive, even though it seems that her life is going nowhere, fast and alone. Age 19.

Cam
Though truthful and kind-hearted, Cam is constantly misunderstood and actions wrongly perceived, by those around him. The childhood sweetheart to Pippa, he has never left her side and they have been head-over-heels in love for years. But now, watching her sit blankly, silently, for months on end is too much for him to bear. Age 22.

Jennifer
Jennifer is the classic strong, independent woman. Being single, she is dedicated to her work, to the point that her illness takes her out of the office. But suffering in silence from the consequences of her smoking addiction, has made her hard on others and herself, even though having quit many months ago. Age 35.

Tod
Working in the same building as Jennifer, though rejected and ignored, Tod obsessively crushes over her, constantly checking in under the premise of 'coffee run'. However, where he fails at relationships he does worse at parenting, being the incompetent single father of Kelsie. Age 38.

Sid
Sid is the sarcastic, hilarious, yet sometimes oblivious, housemate of Amy. He pops up occasionally with witty remarks and comments, which may seem superficial yet carry underlying morals. Age 25.

Alex
Alex is another DJ at the radio station, Smooth Tunes, he appears twice in the recording studio, ensuring the faceless DJ remains so. Age 20.

Lisa
Working at the studio, Lisa hires Amy as a replacement intern. She has an almost motherly persona, though appearance is brief. Age 30.

Receptionist
The receptionist features momentarily in the lobby of Smooth Tunes. Chewing gum, twirling hair and in heavy make-up, she is a character in herself. Age 20.

Dr Reece
Only ever heard over the phone, Dr Reece is sincere yet with a deep, influential tone.

Ben
Ben, Grace's belated husband, appears for mere seconds as an apparition, and dances with her to their song. Age 63.

Young Grace
During a flashback a Young Grace meets Ben for the first time, at this dance they share their first to the song that becomes theirs. Age 18.

Young Ben
During a flashback a Young Ben approaches Grace and they share their first dance to what later becomes their song. Age 19.
