Details:

As promised, here is our updated character list and contact details:

STUDENTS (all aged 15-16 except for Danny. Most actors will ideally be aged between 15 and 20. The actors playing Tina and Jordan must be over the age of 16, but look young enough for this year group. Physical descriptions are unspecified unless stated)

BECCA - pretty but ordinary-looking, the new student at school, she is sociable and free-spirited. She has been accepted on a music production course at a major Birmingham academy and is at the school to finish her GCSEs after moving to her aunt's house because of issues at home. Befriends Kessie and many of the other students, especially Logan, whom she secretly has feelings for. She is eventually voted prom queen.

LOGAN - tall and good-looking, the most popular student at school. Academic, good-natured, insightful and athletic, but he isn't sure what he wants to do after 6th form and feels a bit left-out because of that. He and Becca start talking and end up going to prom together, much to the envy of Amanda.

AMANDA - Tall, blonde and very pretty. The queen bee and the 'most popular' girl in school. She is known as being manipulative and taking advantage of her beauty to attract boys. Comes across as false and 'plastic'.

CHRIS - Really popular and energetic. Camp and well-styled. Friends with pretty much every character, especially Amanda and the boys and is kind, confident and self-assured. Amazing dancer. He starts going out with Jason, much to the disapproval of Jason's father.

JASON - Athletic, probably the most handsome guy in the school. A little socially awkward and unconfident - this is due to him hiding his homosexuality for fear of being mocked and his strict Christian parents finding out. He eventually goes to prom with Chris.

ANDRÉ - Best friends with Logan. Popular, everybody seems to like him. Your typical 'British lad' - humourous, sporty and loud. Fancies Kessie.

DEAN - On the football team. Comes across as another 'lad' at first but is actually very kind-hearted, acting as a strong influence on Jason's coming out and on Amanda learning to love herself for who she is. He and Amanda eventually date.

KESSIE - Cheery, sassy and befriends Becca. She comes from a dual African/Pakistani-Muslim heritage. She identifies herself as a black Muslim, though she and her parents are very liberal in contrast to her Muslim family, whom she has never spoken to due to them losing contact with her mother because of her beliefs. She eventually goes to prom with Andre.

TAYLOR - The teacher's pet who is head of the prom committee. Comes across as largely disliked and annoying.

IWAN - On the football team with Logan, Andre and Jason. He confronts Chris and Jason about their homosexuality.

TINA - One of Amanda's best friends - she is just as false and ends up ditching Amanda at prom for Jordan.

JORDAN - He and Tina spend prom night together. He comes across as a douchebag

OTHER STUDENTS - MEMBERS OF THE FOOTBALL TEAM, DANCERS, STUDENTS FROM YEAR 7 - YEAR 13 (playing ages 11-18, though actors can be younger or older).

ADULTS

MISS TARVEST - A senior member of staff. Aged 25-40. A year 11 form tutor. Not too strict, fairly nice and reasonable.

MR ROMAN - The dance teacher.

LINDA - Becca's mom

CHRIS' MOM -

OTHER TEACHERS AGED 25-70

CATHERINE - Jason's mother, aged 35-50. She is a religious Christian and disapproves of her son's sexuality for religious reasons but is understanding and supports him nonetheless.

JACK - Jason's heavily religious father, aged 45-60. Disgusted at his son's coming out and is very open about his disapproval by being insulting to Jason, Catherine and Chris.

FOOTBALL COACH - Any gender/age. The coach of the school's football team. Silent.

HEADTEACHER - Any gender, over the age of 40. Delivers the leaver's assembly with a long and important speech.

EXTRAS (including student's parents, a prom DJ, lunch staff etc.)

A few final points:
Some extras will have speaking lines - these will be allocated in the rehearsal process.
Auditions will be in the coming months, and deadlines close on March 31st for those auditioning for a main role.
We won't be auditioning for extras but your name, age and a photo will be needed before you are selected - this needs to be sent before May 31st.
If you are under 18, parental permission will be needed after you are selected.
Additional costs from participants will be specified. This will mainly cover costume.
