About Me

I am a fun-loving, versatile performer who loves to travel and meet new people. I have tattoos, piercings and odd-coloured hair (it's usually some shade of purple, blue or green). I tend to dress 'alternative', but don't let any of that put you off; I'm happy to modify my looks for the right casting (if only temporarily!) I'm 34 but look young for my age (or so I'm told!)

I have a range of skills and am always up for learning new ones! Do feel free to get in touch if there's anything more you'd like to know about me.

I currently teach singing and will soon be launching a blog with regular YouTube how-to videos. Watch this space! ;-)

Employment History & Experience

I have been acting since the age of five in amateur dramatic productions ranging from Shakespeare to Brecht and Orwell. I received a nomination for Best Actress for my performance of Alice from 'Alice in Wonderland', and received the Best Supporting Actress prize for my performance of Kattrin in 'Mother Courage and Her Children'. More recently I was a member of the Junction Performance Group in Cambridge, which put on a production of self-written short plays in 2007, and during 2014/early 2015 I both studied and taught at Creative Minds and Future Films, a performing arts group in Norwich.

I studied GCSE Drama at school, receiving an A* grade for the course. I went on to study A Level Theatre Studies, for which I received a B grade.

I was an extra in 'Midsommer Murders - The Axeman Cometh', playing a festival goer. I have also acted in three music videos for my band.

Employment History & Experience

I am a singer/songwriter in my early thirties with nearly 20 years experience of performing in bands and solo, both live and in the studio. I have sung both lead and backing vocals in original and covers bands, performing a'capella and with varying levels of backing instrumentation. My live work has seen me gig all over the country and further afield at various pubs, clubs, live venues and festivals. I have sung on various recordings for my own bands and as a session vocalist, and works I have featured on have been distributed across Europe.

I currently teach singing from my home in Norwich, either face to face or via Skype. I help singers to find their authentic voices and develop confidence, power, range, and freedom of expression.

My influences are many and varied, but include bands like Halestorm, The Levellers and IAMX. I love complex, layered story-songs with stand-out riffs and sing-along choruses!

December 2005 - April 2006
Band 'Foxtrot Uniform'. Lead vocals and lyric writing. A short-lived project band with rehearsals culminating in a well-received live show at the 'Man on the Moon' venue in Cambridge.

November 2000 - June 2004
Band 'Skelliga'. Lead vocals, backing vocals and lyric writing. During my time with Skelliga we recorded 3 E.P.s and toured across England, playing many gigs and festivals in both headline and support positions, including the world-renowned Strawberry Fair free festival in Cambridge. We were also invited to play Glastonbury Festival but unfortunately split up before this could happen. I wrote most of the lyrics for Skelliga and was also responsible for much of our publicity material, including the band biography, promotional matter, CD art & flyer/poster design, as well as assisting with our website design. I dealt with all the band's accounts & organised rehearsals, gigs, events & meetings, taking minutes during the meetings, & typing them up & distributing them to the rest of the band afterwards.

September 2000 - June 2002
HND in Popular Music, studied and passed at Anglia Polytechnic University. This was a wide-ranging qualification with training in performance (live and studio, solo and accompanied, improvised and rehearsed, session and band/solo work), marketing and promotion, event organisation, artist and venue management, studio production and recording, sampling and digital sound design, legal issues, world music and history.

June 1999 - June 2000
Band 'Fruit Tree'. Backing vocals. This band was formed while I was still at school. We performed several gigs, including a support slot for legendary thrash metal kings 'Napalm Death'.

August 1998 - March 1999
Band 'Livid'. Lead vocals and lyric writing. Formed for the Bishop's Stortford High School's annual band CD, Livid recorded two tracks on the compilation 'High 99'.

January 1998
Session 'Lady Morphia'. Backing vocals on two tracks of this five track EP which received 3/5 in Metal Hammer magazine and subsequently sold in record shops across Germany.

Previous to this I performed a cappella many times at a local Folk Club, busked at craft fairs and performed musically in several plays. I also had private singing lessons between the ages of 13 and 19 and am currently studying with several online programs.

Experience & Qualifications

General Experience

I am a versatile performer who has been on-stage for most of my life as an actor or singer. I have various qualifications, including a HND in Popular Music, A Level Theatre Studies and GCSE Drama. I have experience playing lead and minor roles in plays and musical theatre, as a backing singer, session singer and as a lead vocalist in bands, and as an extra on TV. I have also acted in music videos for my band. I am currently a voice coach teaching private singing lessons both face to face and via Skype from my home.

I love to dance, although I have no formal training. I am usually the first person on the dance floor, and anything with a good beat is enough to get me 'painting the ceiling' and 'changing the light-bulbs'!

I have amateur modelling experience, mainly helping friends with their portfolios, but also in promotional material for my band. My image is 'alternative' - I have long, layered blue-green and black hair, tattoos and piercings, and tend to wear 'Gothic' clothing and make-up.

I have event crewing experience ranging from small gigs to large festivals.
