I am a Postgraduate student at the Royal Academy Fine Art Schools and I am looking for two actors, one male, one female, aged 60+ for a performance and portraiture. Two days photographing portraits and rehearsal and one day performance. Auditions. portraits and rehearsals will take place at the Royal Academy Schools in London and performance will take place at the private view (of a group show), at Camberwell Space Projects on the evening of the 13th October, 6-9.
I work across performance and sculpture and this project requires two individuals, with great experience in comedy, to be photographed (photographs to become large prints that will be part of the work in the exhibition) and then to rehearse for the performance, which will be acted out through a sculpture. The sculpture will have cut outs for the actors' heads to peer through, while their bodies will be visible. Actors will need to appear only with underwear and will have face make-up and some body paint in parts. Performance will last approximately 25 min and will also be filmed, once in private setting (for use as film) and at the opening night, as documentation.
There will be script in the form of a fast paced dialogue between the two characters.
This work is concerned with storytelling, myths, human intimacy, absurdity and closeness, and with the generation of animated images through objects and live action.
