Details:

We are casting four additional voice actors for a historical documentary about the use of Alexandra Palace as an internment camp during the First World War. Successful applicants will provide the voices for off-screen readings of extracts from letters and memoirs of men who were interned at Alexandra Palace during the war. The documentary will be screened as part of a public on-site exhibition at Alexandra Palace.

Accents are important for all the roles so please only apply if you believe you can fulfil one or more of the below mentioned accents:

Major Mott
Age: 40-50
Accent: Upper English Class

Kurt Engler
Age group: 30-40
Accent: German

Amy Engler & Other Female Voices
Age group: 25-45
Accent: Actress with ability to do both British and Eastern European accents would be desirable

German & English Voice
Age: Any
Accent: German and British

Applicants MUST be available for recording at a local studio in North London on 14th or 15th of August (possibly both but highly unlikely).

As an audition, all applicants are required to do a simple voice recording of the relevant audition lines (all lines listed below) and email the audio file to mdx.doc@gmail.com along with the following details: age, nationality, phone number.

Successful applicants will be notified by the 8th of August and will be offered a one-off fee of £50 for the recording.

Audition Lines:
Major Mott: “Camp life and separation from their families is cruelly felt by the prisoners. They complain that it is impossible for them to concentrate their thoughts on some work or study or to fill these long hours.
When the guns slammed out their message at eleven o clock some men streamed out and shouted, laughing and talking. But many were grave.”

Kurt Engler: I cannot earn from my painting anymore, Amy. They say they are propaganda, and I have to stop. They’ve taken the one I have done from the shop."

Amy Engler & Other Female Voices:
(Sample 1 Ukrainian/Eastern European Accent)
[angry/upset]"That man lead the tailor’s strike! That man fed and clothed the docker’s families during the stike! That man is for justice and this is what you do to him?! Rudi, Rudi

(Sample 2 English Working Class Accent)
"The British Authorities arrested my husband, Benjamin Cseh contrary to international law, before the declaration of war between Great Britain and Austria. I petition the ministry for his release and I wait and I wait.”
