We are looking for four actors to play in an independent low-budget feature film.

Synopsis: The Replacements is a psychological drama that follows Casey, a teenage boy, who is being both physically and sexually abused by his mother’s boyfriend through his day-to-day life as he struggles to manage his own handling of the abuse and the ever increasing concerns of those closest to him. As he becomes more and more isolated in his situation, he finds himself starting to fall in love with his abuser – the only person he feels close to – and then struggles to readjust to life without him after the abuse ends.

Audition dates
We will be holding auditions in Glasgow on the following dates:
26th of October between 2pm and 5pm in the Vivace Theatre School, Sauchiehall St.
29th and 30th of October in the Queen Margaret Union, University Avenue.


Roles:

John (male/ late 30s-early 40s)
John is Casey’s mum’s boyfriend. He is a deeply dissatisfied person and, though maintaining an outwardly charming façade, his rage and toxic notions of masculinity are projected outwards onto Casey, whom he perceives to be/wants to make weaker than himself.

Lyle (male/ 17)
Lyle is Casey’s boyfriend. He is an empathetic, liberal minded, generally happy seventeen-year-old boy. He is the closest character to being a voice of reason in the film and is Casey’s strongest tie to normality.

Denise (female/ late 30s-early 40s)
Denise is Casey’s mother. She is very caring and considerate, but struggles to deal with her demanding job as a nurse, and isn’t at home often. Due to exhaustion and insecurity, John easily manipulates her.

Joshua (male/ late 20s)
Joshua is the new abuser Casey eventually replaces John with. He is in his late twenties and is very similar to John.
